A visual journey through the history of the Tibetan Terrier - from its roots in the Himalayas, through the journey west and the early development of the breed in Great Britain, to its spread across Europe and the international Tibetan Terrier world.
This artwork originally grew out of a much larger project: an extraordinarily detailed XXL Tibetan Terrier hidden-object puzzle.
For the Fine Art Print, the story has been deliberately distilled into a quieter, more focused composition. It retains the historical atmosphere and many of the small details of the original work while allowing the individual stages of the breed’s journey to become more visible.
The Himalayas and Tibet form the beginning.
From there, the eye travels alongside early dogs and their human companions towards the journey west, across the sea to Great Britain and into the beginnings of organised breeding. Historic photographs, travelling trunks, books, documents and illustrations become part of the narrative before the image gradually moves into continental Europe and the later international history of the breed.
Crufts 2007 appears as one of the recognisable milestones within that story.
But this is intentionally not a strict chronological timeline.
Different places, generations and moments flow into one another, much like memories, old photographs and fragments of a story collected over many decades.
At the heart of the artwork are, of course, the dogs themselves.
Tibetan Terriers of different periods and types appear throughout the image – sometimes as companions within the landscape, sometimes as part of historical documentation and later as representatives of an increasingly international breed.
The aim was never simply to create a decorative picture of beautiful dogs.
It is a piece about origin, journey, history and change.

Each version belongs to the developing A Sensitive Kind Heritage Collection, a collection devoted to the history, origins and character of remarkable dog breeds.
Part of a larger story
The original, much more detailed artwork will also be released as a 1000-piece XXL photo puzzle, measuring approximately 90 × 67 cm when completed.
The puzzle edition will later include a smaller companion version of this Fine Art Print together with a specially designed story card exploring the ideas, historical stages and details behind the artwork.
The 38.8 × 25 cm Fine Art Print offered here remains the separate edition created especially for framing and display.
